Just returned from our summer vacation...this year we went to Utah and then Idaho. We usually get a beach house in Newport, but we decided to venture out this year. Marks Family has cabins in Idaho so we thought that would be a fun change of events. We didn't want to brave the entire 17+ hour drive all in one so we stopped first in Salt Lake for a few days. We first went to Lagoon...so fun! Karlee was able to ride all the big roller coasters and thought there was nothing better in the world. She was not afraid of any of them. Cole was a little sad, but when we showed him kiddie land he was so excited. fun was had by all. The next day we decided to go to Temple Square. That was a site to see, and we also got locked out of the conference center...on the roof no less.Yep we had to march down like five floors of stairs in the hot sun with three strollers. After that we decided to go to Park City to do the alpine slide... what a blast. Jeff also did the zip line and then we discovered the alpine coaster. It is a roller coaster up the mountain then around through the trees...awesome! We rode that a few times and called it a day. The next day we were on to Idaho. Off we go down the freeway and our stroller blows out of the trailer and right under Joyce & Joe's suburban. They pull it a ways down the highway and then stop to un-wedge it.needless to say we got a new stroller. O.K. on the road again.. only to stop for gas in Pocatello where Karlee decides to try to hop the trailer and falls to the ground breaking her arm in the process. Off we go to the emergency room. This was our first visit in nearly five years-not to bad- she was a brave little soldier smiling through the tears for the many photos snapped. Now back on the road...finally we arrive at the cabins. As we were getting settled the boys decided to take a mid-night quad ride with the kids. They had a good time. Karlee and I had to go to the Doctor in Idaho Falls to follow-up the next day & then Jeff ,Karlee, And Cole went fishing with a big group of family. We also went to Yellowstone to see the wildlife and of course old Faithful. that was pretty fun to see. Karlee got to hide food for the bears to find. the highlight for me was the mid-night canoe ride on the Snake River. Family Vacations are so fun and this trip was no exception.

Hi Penny! I just got done reading Shannon's blog and it looks like you updated yours too! I love the picture of you and cole on the alpine coaster- priceless and I still cannot get over poor little Karlee. I guess a family trip is not a real trip without a stop at the emergency room- holy cow. You can definately add this trip to your list of crazy good stories- you know to go with the story of Grady's birth :) this is getting long- sorry- I'm glad you guys all had a good time doing so many new and fun things- I really wish we could have been there- REALLY- even if there was mosquitos :)
